ISO 22301 - BUSINESS CONTINUITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

Note: This scheme is currently in development.

This standard has been developed to help organisations minimize the risk of disruptions. ISO has officially launched ISO 22301, “Societal security – Business continuity management systems – Requirements”, the new international standard for Business Continuity Management System (BCMS). This standard will replace the current British standard BS25999.

ISO 22301 is concerned with maintaining business operations. This means what the organisation will do to specify requirements to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and continually improve a documented management system to protect against, reduce the likelihood of occurrence, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptive incidents when they arise.

You can obtain certification by following the scheme process described in the right-hand column.

N.B. Sovereign Certification has developed a sample business continuity management systems manual that can be amended and adjusted to meet an applicant's specific organisational requirements.

Using the manual clients are able to meet the standard's requirements in a simple way. The manual is intended to reflect all the mandatory requirements of ISO 22301 and can be used to form the basis for the Sovereign Certification assessment. The applicant is required to commit to the implementation and conformance of the manual's content.
